Last week, Irene posted this bathroom by designer Betsy Burham, and I haven’t been able to get it out of my head. It incorporates so many of my favorite elements in a bathroom:

(and maybe a fancy chair, or fiddle leaf fig, or ornate mirror….)

bathroom travertine mirror chandelier kilim rug

Regina Garcia bathroom carerra marble chandelier

Christiane Lemieux bathroom carrera marble rug

Nathan Egan bahtroom carrera marble chandelier brass

Marta Torelló bathroom ornate black gold mirrors

It got me really thinking about doing something with our master bath, which we haven’t touched (five years later!). We’re not going to go into a full remodel to add carrera marble per se, but at least we have a white base to start. Thinking of adding a few more of my favorite elements, for an easy update:

small shop: master the bath, lucite gold colorful rug brass

Large gold mirror (similar), $128.07  // Lucite hoop chandelier (still lusting!), $1695 // Diptyque Baies candle (the best!), $28 // Lucite knobs (to add to our existing tract home cabinets), $5.94 ea. // Vintage upholstered brass stool (from a new fave Etsy shop!), $78 // White chevron towels, $11.98+ // Multicolor wool rug, $498+

I am torn between going with a traditional colorway for the rug, or something bright and cheery like above. What do you think?

  1. I love this look. Our bathroom is teeny tiny right now…but someday! The rug and gold mirror are my favorite part of this look. We also keep a diptyque candle in the bathroom – it makes any room feel a bit more luxurious.

  2. These bathrooms are so gorgeous! I love carrera marble with gold anything, and how glam with a chandelier. And I would go for a brighter rug if you can find one that still looks more traditional and not so contemporary. I love all of your picks, especially that stool! Going over to that etsy shop right now! 🙂 Have a great day!

  3. I absolutely love what you created!!! The mirrors in the second and last picture are KILLING ME!! I have been considering switching out our bathroom mirror and I loved the mixed mirrors!!! xo Elizabeth

  4. Love your inspiration and your board! gorgeous, and crisp, but not cold.
I am loving soft traditional oriental rugs right now. They are so enduring, and full of life. That’s my vote. But, of course, go with what you LOVE!

  5. I’d go with the colorful rug – it brings so much life and personality to the room! Looking forward to see what you decide to do with your bathroom 🙂

  7. you know I love all those baths. It will be a seamless transition because you already have all those elements in your house – can’t wait to see!

  8. Oh how I wish I had my own bathroom that looked something like these! I would feel like I was on a retreat every time I go into the bathroom! That’s the way to live… Beautiful, Hun! Thanks for sharing such fun inspiration with us!

  9. This is very similar to what I’m doing in my ensuite bath! I am looking for a persian rug and using brass finishes for my sconces and drawer pulls. Love the whole look!

  10. Gorgeous photos! I am a sucker for carrera marble but add a traditional rug and wow! By the way, I am pretty sure the second photo is a room by Australian designer David Hicks.
