NATURALLY SUMPTUOUS Kelly Wearstler Does 70’s Beach

How was your weekend? Mine was surprisingly productive (after my quick Palm Springs trip!): worked on my gallery wall, made progress on my canvas, cleaned out the garage, and finally had a chance to delve into one of the more recent additions to my design book collection, Kelly Wearstler’s Rhapsody. I’d seen many of the shiny, extravagant interiors featured in the book, but had not seen this organically glam beach house in my local O.C.. Of course, the throwback to a vintage 70’s vibe — complete with rich wood paneling, soft-on-the-skin furry chairs, driftwood objets, overstuffed furniture and classic Platner dining chairs — captured this North Shore, Oahu girl’s heart immediately. Takes me back to that redwood house in Hawaii I grew up in…sigh…

  1. Very sexy! Those furry chairs are killing me! Beautiful fireplace too.
    How was the pool party?

    1. Hi Heather! I put up a few pics on Instagram! I didn’t really take a ton of photos (tried to enjoy myself instead!). But I did get a link to the official photos from Bazaar, perhaps I will put them up!

  2. All the lighting fixtures are just gorgeous- especially the lamps in the first shot. But it’s really the textures that really caught my eye. I just want to run my hand over every surface in this house.

  3. Wow. It is so 70s, but in such a delicious way. What an amazing space. Those woolly chairs and the light fixtures. Gah. Thank you for sharing! xo

  4. I love the texture in the neutral bedroom and the pattern that’s created with the natural wood grain. The pops of brass/gold add additional warmth and sexy appeal 😉
