“Study for ‘Combe II’” 1950, cut and pasted colored paper and pencil, Ellsworth Kelly

I’m off to Art Basel Miami tomorrow (hurrah!) so I thought this would be a perfect time to try out a new column: “Art in 5″! I’ve been writing “Design Under the Influence” on La Dolce Vita for a few years, and after 30 installments, I wanted to continue to bring something unique and useful to my and Paloma’s readers. Utilizing my Art History degree, I’ll be covering an art period or artist every month, with five quick bits on a “cheat sheet” of sorts you can easily pin, reference, save, etc.! First up, Ellsworth Kelly

You may remember the Ellsworth Kelly poster on my office gallery wall.

At any rate, I’m hoping I can encourage art appreciation out there by providing a historical context that’s easy to grasp. Please let me know what you think of the new column!

More to come post-Art Basel!

I always wish that I had taken an art history course in college, so this sounds like a great column! Can’t wait to read it.
