#1: Listen to my new favorite album, A LOT.
Just discovered this little gem: Frank Sinatra singing Bossa Nova. Sets the perfect mood for a little relaxation at the end of a long day. What could possibly be better? Perhaps if I also…
#2: Try out a few concoctions from the Mad Men Cocktail iPhone app.
…like a Vodka Gimlet or a Side Car. And perhaps transport myself to 1964 Rome too?
If nothing else, I’d at least have to be sure to…
#3: Finally watch La Dolce Vita.
It’s become sort of a crime that I haven’t seen this classic Fellini pic yet. But perhaps more of a crime that I have yet to…
#4: Finish our Italian Honeymoon photo album (it’s been 8 years now!).
These gorgeous photographs from Etsy (by Tracey Capone) are helping to inspire me. Speaking of inspiration, in 2011 I’d love to…
#5: Read a few biographies of famously stylish women.
…like spunky Lauren Bacall, funny gal Lucille Ball, sultry Ingrid Bergman, humanitarian Audrey Hepburn, and the ultimate classic beauty, Grace Kelly. But of course I could get OUT of the house and…
#6: Get a little Spanish culture at two 2011 deYoung Museum Exhibitions.
Balenciaga and Spain March 26, 2011 – July 4, 2011
Picasso from Musée National Picasso, Paris June 11, 2011 – September 25, 2011
But before taking that road trip to San Fran, I’d definitely have to make a stop to…
#7: Attend Palm Springs Modernism Week, February 17-27, 2011.
Archi-geek out with home tours and lecture series arranged by Modernism Week, which of course will definitely get me in the mood to finally…
#8: Finish my daughter’s room (um, she’ll be 2 in March).
…by adding the Lou Lou Ghost Chair, complete with Jonathan Adler’s hugs pillow. Maybe I’ll even get motivated enough to add another Bla Bla doll to her collection, and a cute pouf from Serena and Lily.
After these little splurges, I’ll end up with little budget for myself. So I’ll be sure to…
#9: Discount shop on sites like Gilt.com, Hautelook.com, and RueLaLa.com.
If you haven’t been introduced, please allow me. It’s really the only way I can justify to myself to pick up pieces from fave brands like Joie, Trina Turk, Current/Elliot, and L.A.M.B. At 70% off, how can you not?
Properly outfitted, time to get out and…
#10: Have a lot more lunch dates!!
So I hear one of the advantages of working from home is having flexibility in your schedule. I have yet to benefit from this, but newly discovered spots like Bottega Louie in downtown LA, Terroni in West Hollywood, and the Rooftop Lounge in Laguna Beach definitely make it worthwhile. Any takers??
…xoxo
