My daughter and I recently got to fly up to visit our dear friend Yuki who moved to Idaho three years ago and has since remodeled an entire house AND had two babies — all during Covid, no less. Her and her partner brought me in to help with the decor and my architect ex-husband to assist with the structural plans. The two of them took on everything else, and the end result is frankly, stunning!
I have had the opportunity to help Yuki with her two previous places (see her townhome kitchen + nook and her ranch house renovation). This time, being all virtual, it was a lot of perusing through the realtor photos, comparing them to the new floor plans, and presenting options for each room.
With all the production delays we decided to go with retailers that would have in-stock items — mainly CB2, Lulu & Georgia, West Elm, Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, and a few of our faves like Tom Dixon and Kelly Wearstler. During our visit and the babe’s naps, I was able to nab quick pics around the downstairs area (and around the baby stuff). Check out the boards and the before/afters below!
Living Room & Entry
Kitchen & Dining Room
The biggest difference we made here is that the kitchen was flipped, allowing them to open up the wall to the back patio with large sliding doors. A useless room beyond was turned into a formal dining room.
Nook & Family Room
Here the wall between the nook and the original dining room was taken down, allowing the kitchen, nook, and family room to be one fully open space where the family spends most of their time together.
Office
Powder Room
I’ve always wanted to try this wallpaper that reminds me of a Goyard bag. I was thrilled Yuki was down to put it in her powder room for a little drama!
Hopefully we will get some upstairs photos of the master bedroom and nurseries soon. And while some items did not end up being available, for the most part it was fun to see how each room indeed matched the boards I had created for them — it is an enormous compliment for any designer to be so trusted in this way!
Thank you Yuki and Kyle for this trust and for being the best hosts, always! xxoo
