BRANDING TIPS Do I Need A Blog?

To blog or not to blog…

I get this question all the time from biz owners because let’s be honest, blogging can take a lot of time and in this day and age, you might feel like no one is going to see it anyway. (No likes or comments, what’s the point?!) But I always highly recommend having a blog on your site for three very significant reasons:

#1. OWN YOUR CONTENT
If you’re posting on social media platforms, why not also post on your own website? Just think, any of these social platforms can disappear and all that content you spent so much time creating…poof. Gone. (Remember Tumblr?)

#2. EXPAND YOUR AUDIENCE
Having a blog allows you to publish content on a variety of topics that help you throw out a larger net to drive traffic to your site. I’ve had my blog for over 10 years and I can tell you my main traffic drivers are Google images and Pinterest to all that blog content just sitting there and collecting views in a range of categories beyond just branding.

#3. INCREASE YOUR SEARCH RANKING
Search engines love fresh new content! Most small businesses that don’t have a blog won’t update their site for months until there’s a change or a new product/service. Therefore, if you can even post on a blog at least twice a month, do it! it keeps your site relevant and boosts your ranking.
