#LuckyFABB The Mommy Factor

So I bet everyone wants to know if I got to meet my design idol, Kelly Wearstler? Well…I didn’t even make it to the party.

Sunday afternoon we took our daughter to one of her best friend’s birthday parties. And if I hadn’t been gone all weekend at a volunteer retreat (on 5 hours of sleep) I might have felt ok tearing her away from her friends. But I didn’t. Let’s just say lots of tears were shed when I finally decided I wouldn’t make it in time after all. But it was my decision. And yes, for my kid…

Lots of subsequent worries followed that perhaps my “mommy” situation did not fit into the #LuckyFABB model. Would everyone be 15 years younger, single and fabulous? I’m not a fashionista, a risk-taker in fashion, WTH am I doing? Will I be irrelevant?

Client and mommy, Jennet Chow of Jellypop Shoes

I am happy to report that that was not the case at all! With panelists like entrepreneurial mommies Jessica Alba, Elizabeth Banks and Randi Zuckerberg, and musings on more than one occasion about “how do moms balance work and kids?” I felt connected and dare I say, NOT crazy for missing my one opportunity to meet my design idol.

Plus TWO of my brands were at the event! Jellypop had an adorable booth (and everyone was carrying the bags!), and Vanilla Bake Shop did a gorgeous dessert table for LeSportSac.

I was kinda like a proud momma.

I have so much more to share with you but I have to keep it short today (need to focus back on my clients!). Here’s what you have to look forward to in the next week or so if you’re interested:

1. How to Increase Search Engine Ranking

2. Top Social Media Trends of 2012

(Lucky does have taped sessions and tweeted photos from the event on their site if you just can’t wait!)

I got so much out of this experience both professionally and personally, and I hope @LuckyMagazine will come back west next year!

That just made my heart smile :) You’re such a wonderful mom, and I’m sure she will remember that. On the other hand, maybe we can get together and stalk Kelly’s boutique until she arrives? Haha just kidding, kind of (I’ve thought about it) ;). But I’m glad you had fun and were surrounded with so many inspiring people. And you are so relevant! YOU also inspire so many people every day including myself, and I just know people were sooo happy to meet you! Have a great week!

    xoxo

Can’t wait to get your tips from the event – you are a great mom and probably got more out of that time than anything else you could have done. I can’t really concentrate because of that pink ruffly cake – it is the best thing I have ever seen!

That’s awesome and you are so smart and strong– your daughter is one lucky lady. I actually had Vanilla Bake Shop make my son’s birthday cake over the weekend and they did an amazing job!! Love them. I can’t go more than 6 months without having their Fleur de Sel cake. :)

This seemed like such and awesome conference. I would’ve love to attend. And no worries, you seriously look 15 years younger than you are.

Kelly did sign my Hue book and I totally choked.

Leighton is so lucky to have a mom like you! And Erika, you look more than a decade younger than you are so have no fear my dear.

Just another reason why I love you. You are real. You are sincere. That is why you are relevant! Obviously, your taste in fashion, design are to be admired (in my case lust after) but you can do it all and have a healthy work life balance. Tears over a missed opportunity and chance, is normal, if you didn’t have tears, then where is the passion. I’m so happy you were able to attend and meet your fabulous clients!! oh my goodness, do I have big shoes to fill! What a wonderful time, I can’t wait till your next posts and live vicariously through them.

    big hugs.
