MORE…Big Girl Rooms

Leighton’s big girl room, v.2

I had a few setbacks with my daughter’s room redo from that first version I shared, but I’m back at it and thinking of going in a different direction. I’ve really been loving the quite grown up little girls’ rooms I’ve been seeing lately. The layering, the textures, and the accents of colors atop a neutral base have me hooked…

It’s tricky to pull off however, especially given I need to utilize the existing Celerie Kemble Bleeker window seat fabric (top left, below). But in mixing it with fabrics like these John Robshaw block prints, I may be able to pull it off. A rough board:

I got inspired when I found the top right fabric from the John Robshaw for Duralee collection — a good thing since this week I found out that the peacock headboard I ordered a month ago isn’t available anymore (sigh). But…we did get the blue/white elephant lamp (represented by the blue/white swatch, above) and both Leighton and I couldn’t be happier with it!

Wish me luck! We’ll see if I can pull it off.

For more big girl rooms, check out the v.1 post….

    I understand the room swings and then going a different direction but I like what you’ve got going on! My son is 2 1/2 so I’m thinking of his big boy room too. I’m not ready to let go of the crib- he’s never climbed out of it yet!

    Thank you for the link to the Duralee fabrics! They are so pretty!

    These rooms are amazing! I would’ve loved if my room looked like this when I was younger…

    Good luck Erika! I really like that last one…something about the colors and patterns just makes it sort of bohemian chic. I love it! :)

      Ha, I’m just too lazy to put all the links up since I’m not 100%! It’s a duvet/sham print on JohnRobshaw.com (with the yellow stripe next to it)!

    I love John Robshaw for a girl’s room….so chic and grown up but girlie at the same time. I also have it filed away for my daughter’s room in the future. I love that elephant print up there. Too cute!

    Hey girl – I have been evacuated this week and only able to get to a computer yesterday and today, but I am so excited to see L’s room come together! I’m so happy you got the elephant lamp – send me an email and tell me what else is happening! I am flying home tomorrow so cross your fingers I have power – we will catch up next week. Happy Labor Day weekend!

    I’ve always dreamed of soft pastel colors of the room. Another love of wood imitations and ancient styles. Carved furniture and huge chandeliers. :}
