Holiday

ORANGE+BLACK Can Be Un-Halloweeny Too

Decidedly un-spooky and quite sexy…

We’re all adults here. We can talk about the fact that a kid’s holiday shouldn’t hold hostage a stunning color combo like orange and black. In fact, pumpkins and bats aren’t even the first things that come to my mind…more like Hermès and Missoni. So I say, have yourself a very stylish Halloween this year, and pair up the two in ultra-fashionable ways like so:

1. Paul Costello for Domino  2. Chicago Spaces via Apartment Therapy 3. Ryan Korban  4. via The Fashion Magpie 5. via Beauty in Simplicity 6. Caroline de Winter  7. Laura & Diego Garcia  8. Inslee Haynes 9. via DecorPad

How have you been celebrating Halloween? Do you dare tell?

Have a fun one!!

Best halloween post I’ve seen all season! Orange and Black is such a chic combination, but too many times we shy away from it in fear of halloween look. Like the quote you sent me, don’t be a play-it-safer. :) OK, i need a trip out west and vice verse.

We didn’t celebrate halloween this weekend, as I had to play nurse and take the hubs to the ER bc his throat was almost swollen shut. He is getting better now, but I actually wish I did have a halloween nurse costume for the ocassion. Bella makes a very good bee though!

I think if anyone proves orange and black doesn’t HAVE to mean Halloween, it’s Hermes!! I’m not much of a Halloween person, so tonight will be like any other. Wah wah.

I’m always super conscience of not wearing orange and black together. Like green and red. If done right, it totally works and looks chic and not Halloween-y.

Thanks for this! Orange is my favorite color, and black is just a useful grounding force in fashion and decor, and I am sick to death of the question “but won’t it look like Halloween?” Also, red and green can work without screaming Christmas (though admittedly I think that’s harder to pull off!)

I am *so* glad you did this post! Orange is my favorite color because orange + black are the colors of my alma mater. I’m always trying to find stylish/non-Halloween ways to use this color combo. I did a whole post on it too!
Love this! Your collection of images is stunningly perfect.

Well since you put it that way… So chic.
Ignoring halloween this year, just don’t have the energy for it. And don’t need extra candy in my house, fo sho!

Love the outfit in the sketch by Inslee – and love these images. I am not into Halloween so it is good to get some inspiration out of it that is not Halloweenie!
