PROJECT L.B.G. Leighton’s Big Girl Room

Brainstorming

It’s recently come to my attention that my daughter is about to grow out of her converted crib, which means 3 things: 1) she’ll need a twin bed; 2) it’s time to redecorate; and 3) she’s not my baby anymore.

The third realization hit me the hardest, and so to make myself feel better over the past few weeks, I’ve been working here and there on a new scheme for her room. But it wasn’t until my talented friend Elizabeth recommended this white/blue boho-errific elephant lamp that I really saw it starting to somewhat coagulate into a semi-coherent plan.

It’s still in the very early planning phase so I hesitate to even share! Hopefully you can see I’m attempting to keep the two yellow pieces we have, and insert more bright pink (her fave color), but tempering it all with natural and indigo blue. I also really wanted to infuse a bit of Hawaiian flair with the quilt, maybe a pineapple or two, and how about this vintage ad from Libby’s Pineapples, where my mom worked her first summer job? Love that. ;o)

Anyway, here are a few of my inspiration images. More to come!

Leighton will have the chic-est room ever for a little girl! I absolutely love that headboard. It’s gorgeous, Erika!

I just moved to Ca from Ny and I’m a single mama, so my 3 year old and I share our bedroom. This is such a perfect post for me, so that my daughter can still have her little girl room and I won’t have the juvenile feel to it!

Oh my gosh I LOVE what you’ve put together so far!!! That headboard is amazing and I love how you’ve introduced pink and indigo with those gorgeous pillows and the elephant lamp! It doesn’t feel like a completely different room but just a more grown-up, big-girl room. Leighton is going to be one stylish little lady!

Okay I love what Amanda Peet did…also I love her whole house…but never mind. :) All of these are fantastic ideas..and it’s good that you can keep the main two colors going while adding in some more “big girl” flair. And it’s funny because I took inspiration from your daughter’s nursery for my little one’s nursery..I’ll have to post pictures soon! :)

You know I loves it…if you think that chinese deco rug I sent you is too much, you could use some hard stripes in the form of a cotton dhurrie…the genevieve gorder collection has some good grays, etc…can’t wait to see the finished product – it’s so you and Leighton, with the Hawaiian influences. Love that poster!

Ok miss Erika, are you a Virgo? For some reason I think we already had the “virgo” conversation, didn’t we? I finished up Matthew’s room mood board earlier this week and I was posting it tomorrow!!! I swear, sometimes our brains work in such a similar timing, crazy!!!

Oh and of course, after I see this gorgeous mood board of yours, I realize that I’m clueless when it comes to interior design, you’ll see.

awww, can totally relate. my little one sarah is two and a half and I need to start doing the same. her room is now painted purple so might go that route, perhaps with lime green thrown in. that’s about as far as I’ve gotten. :)

Excuse the delay on this one, but love what you’ve put together! Can’t believe she’s already ready for a twin bed! That elephant pillow is incredible, and I want to make the pineapples mine.
