TIME OUT.

How is it that 12 hour days aren’t enough anymore?

With wrapping up a few big projects and getting started on a few new ones, I haven’t been able to put as much time into blogging…and it bums me out. It’s discouraging when you’re spread so thin over multiple areas, you don’t feel like you are excelling in any one particular area — especially when you’re working so darn hard!

But I got really sick last week and I honestly think it was exhaustion. Just plain ol’ exhaustion. Even though I don’t wanna, I know what I need to do to take care of myself, my clients and all those potentials I haven’t had a moment to email back! Take a week off from blogging. The response from this blog has been incredible! But I’m a biz owner first, and a blogger second — my clients have to be my first priority.

Plus, things change once you have kids. All of a sudden you find you don’t have the time or the energy to do all of those great ideas you’ve concocted for yourself in the middle of the night. And you don’t want to either — with those few precious free hours you have a day, you’d rather take your daughter to her first dance class (like I did on Wednesday!) and see her face light up and talk about it for hours.

( My tiny dancer )

But I sincerely hope you will all be back Monday, 2/20! I’m giddy with excitement about some new developments: first, what that house photo shoot was all about, and second, a new site design in the works!

I said I would take care of myself, didn’t I? Trying to be better about that, really I am!

Off to focus on those awesome projects I have! I’m a lucky girl.

With gratitude,

Do not worry, I (and everyone) will most definitely be back! You definitely deserve a break, and your little girl is so adorable! I think it’s awesome that you’re taking time to spend with her. I have no kids and still find it tough to blog daily sometimes, so I can only imagine how tough it is for you. A break is a great idea, enjoy!

Hang in there lady! I completely understand how hard it is to feel exhausted but like you’re still half-assing everything. Not a good feeling. Take next week, the week of love, and love yourself some!

E, I feel the same way. I fell down the other day while jogging and aside from the scrapes and whiplash, I think it was exhaustion that led to it. I hope this week off does for you what my trip to the DR will do for me – renew, refresh, re-energize! If I had a bundle of love as cute as you have, I would never blog! Love you!

I’m so looking forward to that shoot reveal, can’t wait, same as the new design!
PS: You have no idea what your “I want you to be my stylist” comment means to me..speechless.

Take the time! You wont regret it. I would love for my blog to have more readers and be bigger and better but like you said, my family and my clients come first. Someday, when my little ones are in school full time and I have more time, is when I will tackle the list of goals.

Completely understand. Do not apologize for having your priorities in order. We all, especially women try too much to pull a superwoman when…we’re only human. We can only do so much with so much, or little time. Take the blogvacay and see you back in a week recharged!

Found you through the Glitter Guide. You have a gorgeous home and beautiful family! I have a similar story. Also a mom and design creative. I’ve been running a full time design business for almost two years, but have built it on the side since ’04-’05. It has not been without it’s ups and downs. The trick has been to strike a balance between how much I’m putting in (which is a lot of blood, sweat and tears, minus the blood and add in more tears) and how much I’m getting out. I absolutely love the part of making Clients happy and delivering great results, but I’m starting to acknowledge that maybe I’m giving away too much. My outlook has changed tremendously because of my 3 year old. I’m taking better care of myself and making way more time for family. So this year, I switched gears and started accepting consulting gigs, as well as, being open to other opportunities! Anyhow, I sympathize and glad to have stumbled upon your site. Love your work and will continue to read your blog.
