The 1970’s are calling and I don’t mind
If you can’t tell, I have a bit of a problem when it comes to 1970’s fashion, décor, music, whatever. I’m not sure why, but I know myself and it’s a phase. Although, apparently it’s not just me! I’ve been so pleased to see my favorite fashion sites and magazines strutting their best ’70s style too.
Shopbop’s “Retro Road Trip” (which should be called “1970’s Resortwear” in my opinion): love it all — well except perhaps for the Missoni jumpsuit. I think you have to be 6′ tall to not look like a clown, and unfortunately I am short (like Hobbit short).
Did you happen to catch the lovely spread in Lucky’s January issue? (Great issue all around, BTW.) So fantastic. Although I’m not sure I could pull off a head scarf, even if it was Hermès.
And I had to throw these in: I’m thinking my craving really kicked in with Carrie Bradshaw’s Halston Heritage dresses in Sex and the City 2. I am finally a proud owner of the pleated cocktail dress, in black (bought on a discount site, of course)!
What do you think? Can you dig it? Or leave it back in the ’70s?
This may sway you in either direction: here’s what I was listening to while writing this post…also helps with Japan-depression…
Rod Stewart “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy”
Odyssey “Native New Yorker”
Rolling Stones “Miss You”
Boz Scaggs “Lowdown”
Donna Summer “Dim All the Lights”
The Captain & Tenille “Love Will Keep Us Together”
Gloria Gaynor “Never Can Say Goodbye”
Michael Jackson “Get On The Floor”
David Bowie “Fame”
Stevie Wonder “For Once In My Life”
I love everything from the 70’s – I am a bicentennial baby (1976, for you idiots born in the 1990’s or later)! My whole next look is a mix of several things, but the number one theme is 70’s glam. Love, love!

Elizabeth I love you even more for this comment. ;o)
I say dig it. Do you mind if I ask where you found the pleated dress? LOVE!
Hi Niki — Rue La La had a sale a few weeks ago. I’m sure there will be another one on that site, or Gilt.com or Hautelook.com!
You’ve really made me take a second look at 70s decor and clothes, and I’m liking what I see. Those Halston dressers are perfection. And that is one rockin’ playlist!
Ha, thanks! It helps especially in the afternoons. ;o)
If I could choose any decade, the 70s would be it! Those red pants and green dress are actually killing me I need them so desperately. BTW, I’m hobbit short too :(
That green dress would make a killer vacay outfit!
I am digging those red pants and basically all the top images…I love a polished retro look!
oh my gosh.. LOVE LOVE the outfits… especially the green dress! You have inspired me to do a little more window shopping : )
Do it!
