I’m incredibly honored that Gaby of The Vault Files asked me to participate in her beauty feature “In My Makeup Bag” today! Especially so because I will be the first to tell you, I am beauty ig-nor-ant. I think due to the fact that I have been plagued by sensitive skin, I typically skip over the beauty section in magazines. But I did happen to muster up some fun finds for Gaby, each recommended to me by others of course. And I didn’t even realize that all my blog hopping and Pinterest perusing taught me a thing or two lately!
In doing a little research for the post, I decided to look up beauty trends for 2012. While there are definitely wackier ones, these are the few I thought were quite wearable:

Love red lips and smokey eyes and maybe doll lashes. Beyond that I think people are weirded out when you try funky stuff on your face. I like a natural glow-y dewy look as I get older.

Love a dewy face and am way too frightened to do red lips. I also love full brows. I think it’s much better than pencil thin ones! xoxo

Love all of these – so wearable! My favorite is definitely the bright lips. If only mine weren’t so chapped right now from this terrible NY winter weather!

I’m with you. I’m not very experimental when it comes to beauty products. I stick with what works and that’s it. I only even recently started trying out lipsticks. I’ve always loved a good smokey eye. The silver eyelash seems like something that isn’t too far out of my comfort zone…
I’m a makeup slut. I’ll try anything once. Wispy cat eyes here I come!

I always play it so safe when it comes to makeup, I’m kind of simple, but mostly such a rookie ;) Love a smokey eye at night though ;)

I think I’m going to attempt to rock the bright red lip this season. I rarely wear color on my lips so it should be interesting :)

I love ALL of these looks…my favorites though are definitely the bright lips {especially loving the whole look of the anna sui pic} and the wispy cat eye! glamour at its best! XO brynn
I usually skip the beauty section from magazines as well, I doubt that the writers have really tried the products so I believe bloggers a bit more and sometimes try products they recommend… love all those looks you gathered! specially the silvery eyes!

All just gorgeous. I’m especially loving the little flush of color in the tonal cheeks. So lovely, and almost ethereal looking!
Oh good! I’m sort of on trend, been doing the cat eye, tonal cheeks, and smoky eye for a while now… Next step is bright red lips and silvery eyes!! Wish I could do a full brow but unfortunately they thin out on their own!
