I love a good design challenge, especially when I get to choose from stunning, unique pieces that tell a real story.
So when vintage furniture and accessories marketplace Chairish asked me to take up their “Accent Chair Design Challenge,” I jumped at the chance. Granted, once I spotted this mustard velvet tufted barrel chair, I was instantly inspired and frankly, my job, quite easy. This particular piece makes me feel very Mediterranean-jetsetter-in-the-late-60’s, à la Slim Aaron’s iconic portrait of Britt Ekland (top center). Muse = found.
As always, a space is never complete to me if it doesn’t follow my 5 pieces rule: something textured/pattern, something shiny, something modern, something organic/animal, and something antique-y.
