Since I’m headed to Hawaii next week for my grandfather’s 90th birthday, the DVF swimwear collection for Roxy is really speaking to me right now — two faves rolled up into one. I grew up on the North Shore of Oahu where the surfing culture figures prominently in daily life. Girls didn’t really surf back then, so it especially warms my heart to see two local surfer girls (Monyca Byrne Wickey and Kelia Moniz) as the models for the campaign. I thought it was quite fitting for Diane von Furstenberg — who is all about highlighting a woman’s strengths — to use beautiful, confident, real wahine. Surfer chic done right, if you ask me…
Hawaii is such a special place. I’m really looking forward to heading “home” and immersing myself back into the local lifestyle, even if just for a week. The people, the food, the music, the beauty — there is nothing like it in the world!

That’s so cool you grew up in Hawaii! I’ve always wanted to be a surfer girl – the culture is just so alluring. Happy trip!
I love Hawaii! You are so lucky to have grown up there.
DVF can do no wrong!
Love the patterns and color palette of this collection. Surprisingly (for me), the green bikini is my fave here. I’m in the market, so I’m going to be bookmarking that one for sure.
I absolutely love patterns on swimwear so obvi I love all of this. I mean…I don’t surf and I’m kind of dying for that board!!! Well done Roxy! xoxo
Love this collaboration!! The photos are gorgeous. So jealous you are going to Hawaii…you will have an amazing time!

Have a wonderful time celebrating your gpa! Loving the one piece you featured, I think it’s definitely my favorite!
I am so jealous, I’ve never been to Hawaii! It looks so beautiful there! I hope you have a wonderful time! I love this DVF collection, now I just need to get my body bikini ready! haha
My dad and his family are from the North Shore (Kahuku). My sisters and I grew up visiting our grandparents there every summer. Just discovered your blog and love it! Particularly the vintage photos of your grandmother — they remind me of some of my Auntie Haruko. Have a great trip! Aloha. :)
Thank you Alissa! Yes I know Kahuku very well. I’m so glad you found me here :0)
