Classic + Casual
A bonus of beach time on the weekend? Catching up on magazines. Happened to rediscover this L.A. home of designer Mark D. Sikes in an old issue of House Beautiful. Even for a modern glam girl like myself, I want to live and breathe in the relaxed tones and textures mixed with just enough contemporary touches. The whole house whispers “welcome”…
Bad case of house envy.
I see that Hermes throw everywhere and I want one :(
Beautiful home!
That bed and that exterior space looks to die for! I am having envy as well. Stunning! xo
…just spotted the french bull dog. Obsessed.
beautiful pictures… love the light fixtures in the 9th picture

Super fresh! I love the whole art on the floor thing although it doesn’t make much sense in a bathroom.
Oh, I absolutely love Mark’s house! I wouldn’t change anything about it. The outdoor space is just as gorgeous as the interior.
Jen, the pendants in the kitchen are the Grosvenor Downlights in Polished Nickel from Circa Lighting: http://www.circalighting.com/details.aspx?pid=1209
This house is a little more traditional than I would usually go, but like you, I would feel completely comfortable there! It is super warm and welcoming…

This is the house I want my parents to live in so I can visit it all the time.
Okay that home is pretty effin fab. It’s so cozy and layered, doesn’t look “decorated” at all.
house envy is right! the canopy on that bed is amazing! x
That patio? I die!
that canopy bed, dark walled bathroom, and bright and airy kitchen are making me weak at the knees!
What a comfy looking, lived in, home. Just makes me what to be a hermit in these rooms. Very Nice!
One day I will live in a home like this!
I must admit that I skimmed the text, to get to the beautiful pictures. As I took them all in, I thought ‘this must be in LA’ – there is something so unique and beautiful about California design. So many ‘new traditional’ elements start in California – whether it be design or furnishings – and it takes them years to make their way to Atlanta!

Boom….what is not to love there. I am in love with his ability to layer and creat such a warm space. Envy is the right word.
