Plus a new “Design Under the Influence”
I’m back on La Dolce Vita today with another edition of “Design Under the Influence” and I’ve gathered up some gorgeous rooms that feature a fave piece of mine: the Serge Mouille lamp. But at $2500-7500 a pop, I realize that it’s sadly not in most of our budgets. Below are some options that may just do the trick (until you win the lottery, or really really like really want to treat yourself)…
1. IKEA $49.99 // 2. WHITEONWHITE, $595 // 3. House of Troy, $350.91 // 4. Lamps Plus, $79.98 // 5. IKEA, $99.99 // 6. Jonathan Adler, $500 // 7. Urban Outfitters, $79.99 sale (or Lamps Plus, $129.99) // 8. Lamps Plus, $229.91

I had my friend pick up this West Elm beauty last week for her breakfast nook…but it’s already sold out! (No surprise, it was on clearance for $129!)

Be sure to check out all the room inspiration in my column over at La Dolce Vita today! You’ll be convinced you need it too.

Not surprised at all that the West Elm beauty is sold out. Is it just me, or do they consistently nail it with lighting? Love this round up- you have an impeccable eye. xo

Buy licensed edition of serge mouille two arm wall lamp

Itoo purchase a wall sconce out of HK [Hansenc] .Be careful, like most of the replica sites they have pictures of originals but you will be disappointed with what arrives. I ended up buying a licensed number re-edition but alas they too seem to have simplified thing. They are power coated so will chip not age gracefully, the brass knuckle no longer sports the locking screw, the lamp holder is not brass or it holding bracket true to the originals. This has prompted me to have the components remanufactured with correct details. It has taken some time to find people with the skill and equipment to do the work but I am almost ready to make a few with the original detailing. Should be able to make them for about a quarter of the licensed re-editions.100% Australian made
Perry says
Greg,
Have you had success in making the brass knuckle with a correct locking screw? How about this. I have an (actually 2) original 1950 3 arm chandelier. One I bought at a gallery in Paris in 1996 for almost nothing. It was missing all three of the brass knuckles. I also bought one at auction (Tajan) in Paris in 2001. That one was expensive. I’ve contact Serge Mouille about buying 3 knuckles (rotules) and they won’t sell them to me.
Please let me know if you can help me. Thanks Greg.
Gregory Ward says
Hi Perry, Yes- the brass knuckles will be ready next week and yes I can sell you a few. The qualityand accuracy should be very good. Let me know your email and I will send you photo’s . Also the shades have been spun and I have cut the “Casquette”template. My shades will be more elongated and slightly squeezed, closer to the original 50’s shape. Next will be to make a mould of the deformed “Lampadaire” then press and cut then . All done by hand as were the originals. Pretty much have all the other components ready for assemble , paint and wiring
Cheers Greg

Just Completed
Reproduction Serge Mouille wall lights.
These meticoulously detailed reproductions include original 1950’s details absent in other editions including manually cut and deformed Casquette and Lampadaire shades, correctly detailed hand polished brass components, original style light bulb sockets and cloth covered wiring.
Made in Australia by hand to order ensures, like Serge Mouille original production, no two lights will ever be exactly alike.
At a third the price of the re-editions and with the detail and feel of the vintage lights these reproductions will not disappoint.
