…International It List…
Confession: I haven’t been on a plane since September 2010. We “grounded” ourselves last year, planning ahead for family-obligated travel this year, and hopefully a return trip to Italy next year. For someone that used to fly every few months, I am experiencing major withdrawals…the kind that quick jaunts to Napa and Palm Springs don’t fix. So I ask you, are these new hot spots helping or hurting?
Grand Hotel Villa Cora, Florence
Areias de Seixo, Portugal
Mancora Marina, Peru
Le Royal Mansour, Marrakech
Hotel Thoumieux, Paris
Cap Rocat, Majorca, Spain
Armani Hotel, Dubai
Babylonstoren, South Africa
Soho House, Berlin
Hotel Fasano Las Piedras, Punta del Este, Uruguay
Banyan Tree, Al Wadi, UAE
Where are you itching to go?
I typically prefer to go somewhere with history or nature (although I am not much of a roughin-it kind of gal). But give me a cocktail and a view, and I’m a happy girl.
Lauren {Stylized Existnece} says
that Peruvian hotel is too much – how gorgeous!!!!!! I also love the quaintness of the South African hotel. My boyfriend and I went to London and Lisbon last summer, so I think this year we’re going to keep it domestic, but we really hope to get back to our favorite, Florence, next year.
Molly says
I will take ANY of the above! I am craving a vacation like nobody’s business! xo

Oh my gosh, I want to visit each one of these stat. I loooove to travel and wish we had more time to devote to it! We’ll be in Colombia and hopefully Napa/San Fran this year and then the next I want a BIG trip to Southeast Asia. I hope we can do it!!
Jessica Rowe {The Aestate} says
Gorgeous! I don’t know, but I’ve been seeing so many many people posting about Paris lately that I’ve got it on the brain.
Brianna says
I agree I love a little history and a little nature. My husband and I went on an amazing trip to London and Wales last year. We liked London, but we LOVED Wales. I recommend a little town called Conwy with a fun little boutique hotel. I think called the Castle Hotel – the food was fabulous and the town has a castle! Hadrian’s Wall was also wonderful.
Alexa says
Ah I am dreaming! Dreaming I tell you.
Miranda {onestylishdayatatime} says
Wow. These hotels are taking my breath away. I have my own confession, I’ve never been out of the country. I’m obviously missing out!
that girl says
I didn’t leave the country until I was 26, and then I was hooked!
Mackenzie {Design Darling} says
How about one of each? ;) I’m still kicking myself for never making it to Morocco when I studied abroad in Europe. Though South Africa is looking mighty fine… #oneday

I am dying to go to Babylonstoren – the interiors have been inspiring me for a year. And of course anywhere I can use my Spanish. Off to the Dominican Republic in two weeks but that is a quick family trip. I would love to go to Spain or Ireland/Scotland as a long exploration… you are making me daydream!

I wanted to post several photos of that hotel. Perhaps a separate post is in order!

I always get the travel itch around this time of year! We are heading up to Cincinnati in a few weeks and plans to go south to florida in march!
Grace - Stripes & Sequins says
I would die to go to any of these, immediately! Personally, Croatia is #1 on my list right now… but I’d take anything – just somewhere warm and sunny!!!
Roxy says
Oh we had the most lovely conversation about you last night! I met the sweet Tamra for dinner :) We are just big fans of you and your style! As for vaca, I’m itching to go ANYWHERE! My mr. and I lived apart for a year so I could start-up society social and with start-up costs and being unemployed for a year before, we haven’t been able to afford it. It would be so wonderful to get away just the two of us. Hopefully soon, but I need to sell more bar carts ;)

As soon as we got back I jokingly said, Okay, where are we going next? This was supposed to be our last big trip because we should probably focus on having kids now. It’s gonna be tough adjusting to not vacationing to far away places.
See, these photos already have me itching for more travel. I feel your bug.
that girl says
Yes get on that, would you? (And yes, traveling afar does come to a screeching halt.)
Courtney Deyle says
I need to go on a trip immediately! All of these places are so gorgeous…Florence and Paris are two of my favorite cities, so I would love to go to either of them next :)
Erin Varnado says
One of my favorite hotels is in Peru, the other is in the Rioja region in Spain. Just looking at these photos makes me want to book a trip. Just what I needed, to feel even more wanderlust :)
carmen says

No holidays this year for us, but Mallorca and Marrakeich are only an hour away so….maybe next Fall? :)

Oh Erica, you’re killing me! These are SO good. I’ve been on travel restriction as well and it sucks, especially when my hubby is going fabulous places without me. Time to plan something…I need some travel to look forward to!

I haven’t been on a plane since summer of 2009 when I went to ATL. But I’ve been on vacays since but they were road trips. I go to chicago all the time because that’s a sister city to Milwaukee (only 1.5 hrs away) but I’m really looking forward to going to Indianapolis for my cousin’s dance competition. I never been there before and have heard nothing but good things. I also plan on going to Miami, another place I never been. (been to Orlando & tampa but not Miami. I know, shocking). I want to go there for my 30th. I refuse to turn another decade in this city. I may end up doing a cruise and leaving from Miami though. Still debating.

Like a few of these gals, I have never been out of the country. I would love to see: Aix-en Provence, Paris, Amsterdam, Cape Town, Amalfi Coast, Florence, Tuscany and Monte Carlo, just to name a few!

These hotels are a total dream! Ever since returning from my month in Europe I have been looonging to return, serious withdrawals. I would gladly accept any invitation to visit these magical hotels!

Oh my, Erika, these places all look divine! I get the travel bug every few months, it’s pretty bad. I typically devote my money to travels before clothes or interiors, but still- I need to reign it in. I would love to visit all these places! :)
Nancy@marcusdesign says
Oh I am so itching to travel! And Italy is definitely on the list. My family is planning a trip to Europe this summer, it will be my first time believe it or not. We’ll plan to do London, France and Italy. I’m not quite the roughing it type either :)
Thank you for passing by recently Erika, I really appreciate it! Hugs,
Nancy xo

Seriously gorgeous! I need to stay grounded though for a while.

oh my gosh! how did you find these hotels…they are incredible. I have a major travel bug too! I came from the Mediterranean and I’ve been stuck in Oklahoma for a 1 month! I would love to go somewhere, anywhere! :)

The Mancora Marina in Peru is to die for! I’m making my family stay there next time we go. I can’t believe none of my family in Peru recommended making the treck and splurging to stay here last time we were there. I’ve been scouring the website and this place is STUNNING, their infinity pool is so major!
Brynn says
OH MY!!! I hear you…I am having major wanderlust… My last flight was to NYC, which was fabulous of course! But I am longing for a trip abroad (my last trip was Europe July 2010)… Portugal has been at the top of my mind and I am now dreaming of staying at Areias de Seizo…so divine! XO brynn

I don’t know if it’s hurting or helping but it sure is all kinds of pretty! Loved the South Africa and UAE hotels but really, I’m probably itching for southern Europe destinations! Greece, Croatia, Italy or I wouldn’t mind doing Spain and South of France again :)

You really make it seem really easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be really something that I think I’d never understand. It sort of feels too complicated and extremely large for me. I am looking forward to your subsequent post, I will attempt to get the cling of it!
