First Giveaway Winner + DIY Artwork

Let’s get this weekend started!

first giveaway prize!

first giveaway winner!

Congrats!

But I didn’t want to leave the rest of you without something for the weekend. So, I thought I’d post about some fun DIY artwork projects I’ve got going on in the house. The first is a no-brainer: framing travel sketches. I put these three in our to-be-painted powder room. I scanned them from my sketchbooks and printed them out on linen textured paper. Looks much nicer when you choose a large matte and shiny frame, plus write a little note along the edge with the date and location.

DIY art: travel sketchesThe second is so cliché I realize: framing your kids’ artwork. I just happened to find this in Leighton’s scribble pad, and I thought hmm, looks like a cool piece of abstract art. So I bought a very grown-up frame for it, and voilà, suddenly looks gallery-worthy (at least in my momma-mind!). Not sure where I’m going to put it yet…

Lastly, I mentioned I am going to attempt to paint a large canvas for our living room. I kinda-sorta have some idea on what the heck I’m going to do, so I wanted to give you a sneak-peek on quick sketches I did to map it out. I’ll definitely keep you posted on how it turns out, although as a disclaimer, if you don’t see a post in the next few weeks, that means this DIY project ended horribly!

Have a great weekend!

Kim D. is lucky! And WOW, that is such a great idea about your sketches. Framing L’s “work” is great, too. I have a shadow box of a tree Ave did. So cute.

Ha, I feel so silly about it but whatever…I’m a mom, that’s what we do!

Wow – your daughter’s art looks amazing in that frame! Can’t wait to see how your painting comes out – and of course I am waiting with bated breath to see your BO! (um, beni ourain, not body odor – though if it gets to the point where you can see it, I actually DO want to see it, so….)
